Buying a Full Face Snorkel Mask
A full face snorkel mask is an integral item of your snorkel gear. This lets you see the beauty under the sea in full view, hence its name. The objective of using snorkel masks is to protect your eyes from water and to any other objects that may harm you as you dive. It is critical to choose what is best in the market since it’s an important item. Masks that are of top quality is something that feels right to your face, fits perfectly to it, does not let water to get and at the same time, lets you see the world underwater clearly.
When it comes to choosing your full face snorkel mask, there are few points that should be taken into account like the following:
Number 1. Lenses – for the snorkel mask that you are going to buy, the ability it has to provide a clear vision is the most important factor you have to bear in mind. Meaning, the formation and lens measurement will affect your decision on which one to buy. You may purchase multiple, twin or single lens configuration however, you must not take for granted that there are other options you can have such as the special coating, glass specifications and shape of lens.
If you want a bigger and clearer vision underwater, then I recommend that you go for single lens as it doesn’t have bridge running across your nose.
With single lens, it is hard to replace for prescription corrections.
On the other hand, if you are in need of prescription lenses replacement, then better opt for twin lens snorkel masks. Due to the reason that part of the frame is removable, it can be easily fitted in.
But with multiple lens however, it has window panel on each side of the mask to make it brighter and more comfortable.
Number 2. Internal volume – similar to the lenses, this is something that you should not take for granted as well. When the mask is sealed right into your face, the airspace between you and the mask is its volume. As the diver begins to dive, the internal volume will be subjected to compression. Lower volume is a lot more comfortable to wear according to many who have tried one.
Number 3. Mask angle – many people don’t observe that the mask angle is also a significant part of a full face snorkel mask. Many snorkel masks don’t run at same angle since the face is scraped at the bottom. This improves the user’s lower field view while reducing the internal volume too. Once the mask angle is raked, the frame will then move back to cheek bones which makes it less of a challenge to look downward.
